Parkrun Championship - May Update

The Ladies Championship is led by Tania Martin who is on a total of 14 points. Tania volunteered on three occasions already this year, as well as not missing a week so far. Sarah Taylor, whilst only attending four Parkruns this year, taking full advantage of bonus points available with finishing first in her age category in three of those appearances. Kerstine Herbert is in third place with 11 points.

Andy Aiston takes the lead of the Male Championship with 22 points following missing just one Parkrun this year as well as attending both club handicaps. Rich Myers is in second place with 18 points, accruing points alongside two marathon performances in two months, whilst last year's Champion Dan Follon is in third place on 17 points.

As well as beating people in your Age Group Category, members are also rewarded for returning to a course and setting a new PB. So far this year, club members have take advantage of this on 22 occasions, Sarah Taylor taking advantage of this three times for three additional points. You can view your Age Group Category on both the 5k and parkrunner apps.

As a club we have already covered 43 different Parkruns this year, with 47 individual attendances at our local Shipley Country Park and 22 at Long Eaton. Kerstine & Tania have added four new courses each, flying the flag for IRC.

Points scored so far this season are broken down here, note that the Club Handicap also contributes valuable points to the Championship, with a lot of club members picking up 5 points last month with impressive new PBs on a special night for the club. The next meeting of the handicap is 18th June. You can read more about the club handicap here.
