Am I fast enough.?
The current pace of runners in the club over 5k (3 miles) is 18 to 36 minutes - Generally if you are anywhere near 10 minute miles then you are fast enough.
Can I run far enough?
The shortest run we do is on a Tuesday night and is usually around 5-6 miles. If you are not up to 5 miles distance yet then you could always try out our monthly handicap 5k (3 miles) usually the first Tuesday of the Month. Thursday's we usually focus on improvement so we would do Speed Work, Hill Reps, interval training or other activities We also make use of the local running track on 2 or 3 thrusdays every month.

Want a test run?
If you want to do a test run, on your own before joining the club, our 5k handicap courses are a great test. These are not easy flat courses but if you can do these anywhere near 30 minutes or better you will certainly fit in.

Where to go
Ilkeston Running Club meets twice a week on a Tuesday and Thursday evening, at the reception of Rutland Sports Park, Ilkeston. The Rutland Sports Park has good parking facilities and a purpose built running track. Lockers and showers are free to use (£1 deposit) for club runners.
We range in age from 18 to 70+ and have many different standards of runner. We cater for everyone, from the runner who is looking for some extra motivation to continue training, to the more competitive runner who wants to test themselves at races. We have many women runners, some of who have been with the club for several years.
All newcomers to the club are made to feel very welcome and we always make sure no runners are left alone and are grouped with other runners of a similar standard.

The benefits of joining our club are many. Running with other people means that you will make many new friends and benefit from the security and wealth of experience that our members can provide.

Ilkeston Running Club operates a two tier membership system and is renewed annually in January.
Type A membership £28 pa
Includes registration with England Athletics which brings the following advantages:
1. Reduced entry fee at the majority of open races, the discount is usually £2.
2. Discounts at various sports outlets.
3. Entitlement to pre-order tickets for various athletics meets.
4. The amount of A members in the club directly affects the number of London Marathon places it receives.
5. Entitled to enter the draw for any London Marathon places the club receives from England Athletics.
6. Covers you to race in events abroad.
7. Eligibility to enter various area and national championship races.
Type B membership £13 pa
This allows you to participate in club activities but without the above advantages.
We highly recommend active runners take out Membership A.
